Giving in to the bodily needs
yet again
A tinge of lost longing
colouring the lust unsullied,
(with) desires waylaid.
Unawares I heave
yet another breath
into this marriage long dead.
Smiles frozen
Poise practised
And gestures many, well-rehearsed,
a funereal hearse marching as if.
An emblem of conjugal bliss
exemplifying a couple perfect,
Lovers long estranged
walking about uninterred.
Held captive by memory and fate
Matrimony's bond 'sacred'
An ensnaring whiff of nostalgia
ensuring the numbing of conjugal pain.
Aspiring to live
"Happily ever after"
Each in the world of their own
Prisoners on the island of lost dreams.
Fell for the best in each
Now seeking out the worst
With a hope to enable oneself
get over the unpardonable crime
of having fallen in (and out of) love
