Sky

From spaces between eyelashes

it escapes

diving off my nasal bridge

stealthily it slips

into the wilderness

beyond myself

Caressing the elms,

dwarfing the scrapers enroute,

keeps going without a break

Horizons not an excuse to wait,

waving briefly to oceans,

it leaps at once

past earth's face

becoming the void borderless,

enfolding in its nothingness,

stars, galaxies countless.

And I close my eyes,

go to sleep,

taking my sky with me

folding the universe

neatly unto itself
