Time scanning past
from the first sunrise
to the one last night
Beasts of all size
and veritable ferocity
Roaming about the fauna
crumbling under their feet
Flora of all hue and height
foliage growing uninhibited
Without a claim
to purpose or utility
Then comes along a biped
a tad removed from his ancestors tailed
Not very strong or fast even
Lacking in skills most basic
to outlive the wilderness
Upper appendage strangely webbed
wielding shapes
carved of wood, stone
and unparalleled wit
Scared of the tumult
unfolding about
The puny ape tail-less
appears out of place
outside the cave of his instincts
With no chance of making
past the feral and fierce
He's come far conquering
his worst fears
Millennia past,
time doing time,
the planet groaning
under his avarice
As the rest struggle
to stay non-extinct
Beasts of all shapes and size
dwarfed by the human mind
