Ten, nine, eight
a new era about to shape
Seven, six, five
this is our part of the space
Four, three, two
we are almost through
One, zero and impact
The DART has met Dimorphos
The course of the asteroid
altered by a degree
that of the mankind
by leaps unbinding
Somewhere on the planet
still deep asleep
the lifeless bones rattle
in the fossils hanging from ceilings
the jaws gigantic
move into a grin
the puny appendages
join hands in clapping
the thumb opposing
clearly amiss
the skull huge but empty
enough room for the grey
the museum just as quiet
as was the planet
on their last night
before going extinct
