Flanked by certainties
the beginning and the end
Although the manner or time
ain't up for choosing
Bobbing over the waves
and tides varied,
braving the tempests many
mind-made
Lost each moment
between the two shores assured
finding reasons enough to mourn
that which cannot be lost or earned
All the gold, all the jewels
and all the dross you treasure
would come to mean
less than nothing
From hair to toe
and every inch in between
returned to whence it came
not a bit or bob left unclaimed
Leaving you
light as a light yet again
stripped of even the you-ness
you so vehemently defend
