All the crows
crowing all night
All the dogs
whining ceaseless
Purr of the feline
felt under the skin
Rustle of rushing reptile
not to be missed
An anxious hare
perking tall ears
As the simian that survived
the evolution's blunder
can't stop prancing
between my ears
Faces and furs
enforced by nature
Prejudices and fears
made to order
Carrying the beasts within me
as I strive to stay unrattled
each step missed or mistaken
in trying to be just human
