From the eyes of a bonsai

randomry

Updated: Feb 22, 2024

Dawn will give way

to a new day

Dusk will let the tired one

at once set

Night taking in

the rising temps

As the day invades

much of her hours

The grass on the lawn

seems untidy more often,

growing like a weed

that it is, only pampered

Birds have begun

to sing again

A tad out of practice

over the long, winding rain

The terracotta has been

my home within home

on this windowsill overlooking

the world outside

The hand that comes

to water and caress me

is growing shaky,

spilling more than it did

Busy summers, noisy rains

long, lonely winter nights

have taken their price,

more than just his hair's graying

He's braved them all

in his, now hesitant, stride

sans the solace of

being a bonsai
