It can have humble beginnings
But humility and it usually
do not see each other in the eye
Seeds found just about anywhere
Plenty to stumble upon
without even looking for them
Envy, jealousy, indifference
prepare the soil
for the sowing to happen
knowingly or otherwise
Roots soon entrench
distances past reason
Reaching far into depths
past context or premise
And before one could realise,
the tree of hatred has grown
into a colossal giant
One of its kind
needing no manure
or water from outside
One of its kind
withstanding fiercest of climes
One of its kind
remaining unwithered by
droughts and famine
One of its kind
rising from the dead
springing up fresh shoots
when least expected
One of its kind
whose shadow scorches
from without and within
anyone seeking refuge under it
A tree unlike any
that does not even need real seeds
to sprout into what it is
