More than a day

Updated: Feb 21, 2024

With eyes closed,

ears shut,

skin wrapped-in tight,

cocconed in the comforting ignorance,

a mind full of jargon in life's stead.

Blinded to the rise and set

of the blaze lighting up the skies,

painting a portrait nonpareil each moment

that you miss, dazed over nothing.

Shut to the chimes riding the wings,

carrying the melodies unheard prior

The song of the birds, crooning for no reason

bigger than just being alive.

Lost to the tender touch of the breeze

trying to reach you

past your callous skin

thickened by nonchalance.

A day is not just a piece of time

drawn out of the infinite

But the nature itself

trying to knock you out of the night.

The night, dark and unceasing

that you've chosen to sleep in

with eyes, ears and mind open

only to what you think is the world

Feel the day

and you'll have felt

the hand of the creator.

Feel the day

and you've arrived.

For, a day is more than

what you could just think

or make up to mean

through the puny means of your mind.

Not mere swooning of the planet round itself

It's the timelessness trying to present you with

the taste of the beyond,

from dusk to dawn, dawn to dusk,

seamless.
