A rather odd pair
they always were
As different in every manner and way
as diverse as night and day
Meeting only briefly at dusk
they left the eventide blushing
Parting at dawn they left each other
un-waiting
as if strangers perfect
She was always a dreamer
He believed in hard work
He ruled the summers
and owned all the colours
Decking himself up with rainbows and light
She reigned over winters
Starry skies, humming crickets
and unbroken silence were her plebs
He kept a diary
scribing poems of hope and despair
She kept her longings veiled
even from herself
They could barely see each other in the eye
Hopping across globe,
east-to-west traversed in hours
to keep their space and distance
Even as she bore his name
and had no qualms in having
no identity separate
It was a match unlikely
even though all claimed
They were made for each other
and their bond was heavenly
They were bound to stay parted
how much ever they may
have been in love
or longed to be together
Nobody could take
a marriage between
Night and Day
