Important in life
Important in death
Even the ghosts of many
long dead,
disintegrating under feet
claim ranks and hierarchy
Clothes, covers,
faces and facades
all gone,
torn to tatters
Yet in the final strike of them all
We strive to remain
what we are no more
who we never were.
An illusion carried beyond grave
haunting the many living-dead
The business of funeral insurance
sure has life and bright future.
