Had it not been for Ravana
the choices he made
In spite of himself
Would Rama have been
remembered across ages
Half as legendary as he is
Had it not been for the Kauravas
The hundred nameless
Led by the pride of the one
blinded
Having lost more in the game of dice
Than the Pandavas foolish
who gained heroic claim
If it weren't for the night
Dark, uncertain and cold
Or the winter unceasing
Would anyone even remember
There is the Sun and
There is Spring
It is time the history
Rife with stories of villainy
Gave these saviours
their due, long-denied
Celebrate them for their
Selfless sacrifice
In choosing to be a villain
To make them heroes
worth remembering
