In the borderless space
beyond eye's reach
In the boundless void
behind closed eyes
From one to the other
end of the cosmos
If we were to find
tucked amid galaxies countless
Another planet
just as earthy
or as peopled
by the unworthy
Would we then
find ourselves
any less lonely
or alone no more?
In an expanse that exceeds
the ken of imagining
"Are we alone?"
is what we keep asking.
As the irony of
'we' and 'alone'
nestled next
in the same sentence
is lost on us each
that remain lonely
and 'alone' as only
'we' could be
under skies, vast and blue
under roofs, dwarf and gray
that keep us from seeing
again and again
what the Uni-Verse is
screaming timeless.
